What this Ping tool does
This tool sends an HTTP request to a URL and reports whether the target responds, how long the response took, and which HTTP status code was returned. It is a quick way to confirm that a website is reachable from an external network and to spot obvious availability problems.
Reading the result
An "Online" status with a 200-level status code means the server accepted the request and returned a normal response. A 3xx code indicates a redirect, which may still be normal depending on configuration. 4xx and 5xx codes point to client or server errors that prevent a successful response. Response time, measured in milliseconds, gives a rough sense of latency from the testing location to the server. Higher values may indicate network distance, server load, or routing issues.
When to use it
- Availability checks. Confirm whether a site is down for everyone or only for your connection.
- After deployments. Verify that a newly deployed site responds as expected.
- Monitoring awareness. Spot slow responses before they become visible to users.
- DNS or hosting changes. Check that a domain resolves and responds after updating records.
Limitations
This is an HTTP-level check from a single point of observation. A successful response does not guarantee that every page or function works correctly. Temporary network issues, CDN caching, and geographic routing can produce results that differ from what real users experience. Response time here is not a full performance measurement and should not replace dedicated performance testing tools. The tool does not monitor uptime over time or send alerts.
